Download and print

No signup is required. The PDF contains one printable sheet.

Print on US Letter paper and select “fit to page” if needed for your printer margins. Keep the same scaling on both sheets for grid activities.

How to use the page

  1. Print the reference and place blank drawing paper alongside it.
  2. Work from Step 1 to Step 6, adding the new details in order.
  3. After the final stage, decide whether to color your own drawing.

Look at the character details

Start with the head outline, add the features stage by stage, and notice how the final hair and mouth details change the expression.

Choose the right art task

This is a six-step drawing reference, so the artist makes their version on separate paper. How to Draw carries ages 5+ guidance. A single character can be enough for a short Halloween drawing activity; repeating it later is optional.

An optional October art idea

Once the main picture is finished, choose a name or imagine where the character belongs. On separate paper, add a small setting or design an accessory. These ideas extend the session; the download remains the original book sample shown in the preview.
